Question about future tense

The company will be taken over next month.
The company is being taken over next month.

I chose the first one but my teacher said it was wrong and used the second sentence. However, she did not explain me why...can anyone explain it to me please?
Thank you so much in advance!

There is nothing wrong with either sentence, though the second does not sound as good as the first. We should be suspicious of using "being" in such a way, and that sentence would be rejected on the SAT test. We do use a progressive to express the future, but this example is not a good one for that.

  • I am arriving next month.
  • That is a good example of the present progressive to express the future.

Hi guys,

The company is being taken over next month.

This seems fine to me. It describes a pre-arranged future process.
