Question about 'even though'

Hi Teachers,

Could you tell me what is the function of 'even though' in the sentence please?

Even though some people dream about moving somewhere else, most people are happy with their hometowns.

Could 'you may find this suprising ... but ...' be a good meaning for 'even though'?

Another question, 'even though' is an adverb or a conjunction?

Thanks in advance

Hi teachers, Ok. I've already know the 'even though is a 'subordinating conjunction'. Could this explanation be the function of 'even though'?

I assume you don't wish to say it that way unless you want to speak formally. Further, it is wordy.

'You may find this surprising...but...' is not a good substitution for even though, to my mind.
