Question about day and date

Hi!

Have I written the underlined part correctly? Or should I change the order of day and date?

On Friday, November 28 the Dome Square for the seventh time held annual Santa Clauses charity run, and this year it gathered a record setting number of participants – more than 650 runners.

Thank you!

Is "setting" a part of non-finite clause setting number of participants or an adjective modifying number?

You need a hyphen: record-setting functions as an adjective modifying number.

record-setting is a compound adjective derived from the verb 'set', as in 'to set a record'. It modifies 'number'. It should probably be hyphenated as I have done here.

All together a record-setting number of participants
