Question about conditional clauses

Hello

I didn't know what the exact difference between second & third condition clause is.

Look at these sentences:

- If I worked hard, I would be so rich.

- If I had worked hard, I would have been so rich.

What's the difference between both of them?

Thanks

Hi, I didn't know what the exact difference between second & third condition clause is. Look at these sentences: - If I worked hard, I would be so rich. You are talking about the present and/or future.

  • Hi, I didn't know what the exact difference between second & third condition clause is.
  • Look at these sentences: - If I worked hard, I would be so rich.
  • You are talking about the present and/or future.
  • Because you used the second conditional and not the first (If I work hard, I will be so rich ), it sounds like you are not going to work hard.
  • - If I had worked hard, I would have been so rich.

What's the difference:

- Poor man! If he drove more carefully, he wouldn't be injured.

What's the difference:

- Poor man! If he drove more carefully, he wouldn't be injured. His everyday habit is to drive in a way that is not very careful. He is injured now (because the speaker says 'Poor man!').
