Hi Clive,

Then these directions should be written like this:

Create ‘yes/no’ questions about the above paragraphs.

Create ‘wh-questions’ about the above paragraphs.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Is this a different topic now?

Are we finished talking about complex questions.

( And can you provide an example of what you mean by 'a complex question'?)

Hi Clive,

Is this a different topic now? In a way it is. My question came out because of your correction:

a) Complex questions can only be 'yes/no' questions.

Hi,

Create ‘yes/no’ questions about the above paragraphs.

Create ‘wh-questions’ about the above paragraphs.

These instructions are fine.

Hi,

How long did he wait for at the door and what did he do there?

Well, in fact it is not a 'complex question', it is a 'compound question' because it has two independent (or main) clauses. Can you put them together in a 'wh-question'?

We often ask questions such as the above.

Someone told me that it is better to separate these compouns questions if my pupose is a typical exercise of listening comprehension.

Hi,

It would make things simpler,. As a teacher, you have to decide on whether that is what you want to do.

Hi Clive,

Well, at the begining of listening comprehension exercises I'll do it the easy way, 'simple questions', and later on 'compound or complex questions'.

Thanks a lot for everything.
