Question about comma usage.

I know you use a comma when you address a person in a sentence, e.g.:

Shut up, John!

But what if you use a word like "everybody"? Does it still follow the same rule, or is the comma ommited?

Is it:

Shut up, everybody!

or is it:
Shut up everybody!

Can anyone tell me which one is correct?

Many thanks,
Aegis.

It follows the same rule. When you use 'Shut up everybody' (no comma), you are speaking to a third party (probably a burly brute of a fellow) and asking him to silence everyone.
