Question about a translation

Hello,

We are learning an arabic text about arabic syntax. There is an example which we are finding very difficult to translate the ruling into an english word.

What do you call something that you cant physically divide but you can still divide. Like for example a nation can be physically divided. If I say I baught the slave, half of him (half of his time) and the rest of his time was divided/sold to other people. What would this division be called?

thank you

In a civilized society it's called an abomination.
