Question (5) The sixth day

Hi Teachers,

Could these be good questions about the underlined sentence? If not which one please?

a) What happened then?

b) Why didn't Alex run far?

Suddenly there were noises and lights – and soldiers with guns. Alex began to run, but he did not run far. There was a shot … two, three, four, five shots … And Alex did not move again.

Thanks in advance

However, I could not answer the question. I assume that he was shot, and either dead or gravely injured, and that's why he didn't move. But isn't it possible that he heard the shots and was so paralyzed by fear that he couldn't move?

Hi Grammar Geek,

But isn't it possible that he heard the shots and was so paralyzed by fear that he couldn't move?

No, it isn't. This is how the story continues:

Felix ran across the road and looked at the body. Adam was there before him.

Is he alive? Felix asked quickly.

No, he’s dead.
