Question

Hi. In my story a man is following another man in a deadly chase. I've written this:

Ted runs out of the stairwell and down the hall. Ben runs out into the hall as well, just in time to see Ted turn a corner.

Can I shorten it to this, do you think? My main concern is if I can use "follows".

Ted runs out of the stairwell. Ben follows, just in time to see Ted turn a corner in the hallway.
