Question

Hi. I have no idea how to say this, so please help me.

When I looked into my son's room this morning, he was swinging/waving (around) (with) his pirate sword, pretending he was fighting with another pirate.

(I know I could say "playing around with" but that's not what I'm looking for.)

Thanks in advance.
