I was writing a paper and this sentence seems too awkward for me, please correct me! which one is correct and most often used?
1- I really hope these rumors are true.
or
2- I really hope these rumors were true.
is this subjunctive mood?
1- I really hope these rumors are true.

2- I really hope these rumors were true.

We don't use the subjunctive with "hope". You wish the rumors were true (subjunctive), and you hope they are (indicative). Sentence 1 is right, and sentence 2 is wrong.
