Question

Hi teachers,

Would you tell me if these explanations about the present perfect are fine?

Also if the underlined tenses between quotations are the appropriate ones for the explanations?

Use 1

The present perfect can express actions or situations that 'occurred' at an indefinite time in the past.

Use 2

The present perfect can also express the number of times that the actions or situations 'have occurred' in the past.

This is only possible with a frequency expression at the end of the sentence.

Thanks in advance

Hi, Is this just a portion of your explanation? I ask, because you have not said the most important thing - that the Present Perfect shows the present situation in relation to past action, ie how the past is relevant to the present. In addition, there are other uses than just these two.

Hi Clive,

Thanks for your reply.

Is this just a portion of your explanation?

Yes it is, only a portion. There's a lot more but not all in my post 'Correct some definitions for the Present Perfect'.
