Which one is better?

I personally like 'b' because it is shorter, but is it fine too?

I really don't like either structure because of the ordering: you have the first thing (the drawing) near the end of your instruction. Look at the drawing and read the passage, then complete the answers to the questions.

I really don't like either structure because of the ordering: you have the first thing (the drawing) near the end of your instruction.

a) Previously the students have read a story.
b) After that, they have some drawings about the story with questions next to them.
Shouldn't the directions for the exercise be letter 'b'? Excuse me if I insist, but after your given directions I'm a little bit confuse
