QUESTION

Hi there,

Try to imagine such situation: I come to my friend, doesn't matter where I came from, and I say: "I bought a car." or "I've bought a car."
What would be the difference in his mind if I used one or the other way to inform him that from now on I'm the owner of a car?

- Hey I bought a car!
- Oh, that's great!

or

- Hey! I've bought a car!
- Oh, that's great!

Could those sentences mean the same if I just wanted to show how proud I am after buying a car?

Best regards,
Robert

I see no difference to the mind of the listener or the speaker. I think I read that the first is more common in AmE.
