Hello,

1. No, I am reading a book.

I have to frame a question to get approoriate answer the question word is "are". My answers are (a) and (b).

a) Are you not reading a book?

b) Are you reading a book?

2. Yes , I am not reading a book.

a) Are you reading a book?

b) Are you not reading a book?

Which one is correct between (a) and (b)?

"Yes, I am not reading a book." Is a very awkward way to answer a question.Yes is answering in the possitive and not is negative. I do not think either question would be answered that way using good English.

a) Are you reading a book? Yes I am reading a book.
b) Are you not reading a book? No I am not.

'Are you writing a letter?'

'No, I am reading a book.'
