Question

If i want someone looking the other mails from the third party's reply within a mail, should i write

1) the mail below

2)the following mail

3)the preceding mail

Which one is the best choice and have any other suggestions?

I am a little confused, too, Qut, but #1 and #2 both refer to mail appearing after those sentences, and #3 refers to mail appearing before that sentence. With those restrictions, all are fine.
