Query fun...

So I've got this new here script that I'm sending out, and as part of the process I'm sending emails to people I've corresponded with before, telling them about it and asking if they're interested.

The subject line of this email is: New script.
The first sentence of the email reminds this particular contactee how he knows me by referencing the earlier script of mine that he read.

The SECOND sentence starts talking about the new script.

So, just to reiterate: subject line, indicates that this isn't about the old script. First sentence, references old script so he knows who I am. Second sentence (and rest of email): new script.
So this one manager, who shall remain nameless, responds, "Just finished it, sorry, not for me, thanks for letting me read it."

(Just so there's no possible confusion, I send the old script to him last October.)
One of those real head-scratchers. I guess he couldn't be bothered to read more than the first sentence of my email (which he misread!).

I'm not going to name names, but this is a guy who's name I see around a lot on contest web sites, giving advice to new writers, etc.

On the positive side, if the guy can't be bothered to read more than one sentence (or the subject line!) of an email, obviously, he's not somebody I want representing me.
But it was still pretty darn frustrating to try to deal with someone who, you know, you think you've deal with before, it's not out of the blue. Who lies through his teeth (don't tell me just read the thing I sent you, what, seven months ago). Who can't be bothered to actually read an email before responding to it.
My first reaction was, of course, what an a-hole and I wanted to write him back snarking him out for it. But I bit my tongue (get to vent to y'all instead, what fun). It's a small town, yada yada yada. But still...
(On the other side of the coin, just to mention the clouds that do have silver linings, was the guy who responded right away, who said that this script didn't sound right for his company but then went out of his way to praise my old script again and encourage me to send them more stuff in the future. Hey, I know not everyone's going to love or even want to read everything I write and that's okay, but here's hoping some good karma goes the way of those folks who spend a few minutes to make the process a little less painful.)

Well, of course, I don't know this for sure but if this guy has set up his e-mail the way we used to have our snail mail set up, he probably has a bunch of stock responses es

Hm. Interesting. I hadn't thought of that.

I'm the last one to talk, but that's one reason why you should adopt the "NMS Method".
If you were on the phone and he said the same thing, you could have let him know, "No, this is a different script would you like me to send it to you?"

Welcome to life. Deal with it.
Who the **** are you to tell one business how it needs to act, when every other business on the planet acts the same way?
That's why it's called , and not "I completely respect you and fully appreciate the fact that you deserve a meaningful and truthful emotional response at all times".

I've worked in "other business(es) on the planet". This level of dishonesty, in this prevalence, seems to be the exclusive property of the entertainment industry.
I've obvisouly hurt your feelings. Are you a producer? If so, let

You may well be right, here, too... but since all of my previous contact with this guy had been by email, it seemed like the right way to go.

I understand. And you're really doing it. I'm just theory.

Good luck.
