As a general tendency (though not a clear-cut rule), a "quarrel" is, to me, more likely to be about something relatively petty. "Fight" properly refers to a physical confrontation, but by extension it is used colloquially to mean a fierce verbal confrontation (especially, I get the impression, in American English). I would not use this meaning in formal writing.
