Qualified with

Dear teachers,

Is the following sentence grammatical and idiomatic? I, especially, find "qualified with" and the second main clause, "many years of...", rather odd. May I have your opinion, please?

Our Institute is headed by John who is qualified with a Graduate Degree and many years of teaching experience behind him.

Thank you.

Possible: Our institute is headed by John, who has a graduate degree, and who has many years of teaching experience behind him. Also possible and better in my opinion: Our institute is headed by John, who has a graduate degree and years of teaching experience. CJ
