"When Hillary Clinton makes a campaign appearance, she almost certainly will highlight her experience — 35 years, she says — as one of her qualifications for president."
The word president is a countable noun (exclusively) right? So I wonder why no article is used.. what kind of rule is this?
Thanks.

It's correct. Perhaps a bit short, but ... Just memorize it, get used to it.
