Q7. Is this sentence correct?

Hi,

Is my sentence correct? Is there a better and smoother way of saying that, too?

'Overall, the low-income British spend about 30 pence per week on fast foods, which is the least amount of money, compared to the other two. This amount is two times less than what the average-income earners (60) spend, and it triples among the high-income British.'

Thank you.

Over all, low income British spend about 30 pence per week on fast f oods, less than the other two. It is half what average income earners (60) spend , and a third of high income British spending.

Thank you very much for the correction.

Why low income and not the low income? I thought I need to put the the because of the British. Thanks again for your help.

golrazWhy low income and not the low income?
Because it is unnecessary, especially in academic writing. I spend most of my time editing the definite article out of journal abstracts.
