Q1: What do you say 'on the list' or 'in the list', please?

First of all, I'd like to say 'thanks' to the person / people who sorted out the problems we faced recently. .. Emotion: smile

Now my question, please. I'd like to know what you say. Do you say something is on a list or do you say something is in a list or do you say / use either?

For example, The thing that you're talking about has already been mentioned < in / on > the list.

Thank you. .... Emotion: smile

  • Laborious Now my question, please.
  • I'd like to know what you say.
  • Do you say something is on a list or do you say something is in a list or do you say / use either?
  • I would say either without fear or favour.
  • It just depends on whether the speaker is thinking of an item among others ('in') or of the list 'on' the paper.

Thank you, Teacher, for helping me by replying.

So, in my sentence "The thing that you're talking about has already been mentioned ____ the list", "on" would be correct if I were thinking of / imagining something on a pieice of paper, for example, If I had a piece of paper in my hand and then I were saying "The thing that you're talking about is already (written / mentioned)
