I would say either without fear or favour. It just depends on whether the speaker is thinking of an item among others ('in') or of the list 'on' the paper.

So, in my sentence "The thing that you're talking about has already been mentioned ____ the list", "on" would be correct if I were thinking of / imagining something on a pieice of paper, for example, If I had a piece of paper in my hand and then I were saying "The thing that you're talking about is already (written / mentioned) on this / the list, so there's no need to rewrite that". Is it correct, teacher?

What would you prefer to use in the following situation, please?

Person A: You seem to have missed something.
Person B: What?
Person A: The sewing machine.
Person B: But that is not ____ (on / in) the list. Here's the list, see it yourself. (Would you say / use either here, please?)
