Wich form is the correct:
1) I was most excited towards the end of the story...
2) I was the most excited towards the end of the story...
3) I was excited the most towards the end of the story...

I think only 1 is correct though I have seen in some place 3) written :X

Both 1 and 3 are fine.

(Off topic: My personal preference is for "toward" instead of "towards", but both are possible.)

Each of the versions could be correct, in context:

1) It was a great book. I was most excited towards the end of the story.

2) Of all the people watching the film, I was the most excited towards the end of the story; whereas others were more excited than me at the beginning.

Thanks you very much (MrP and CJ).It seems that 1 and 3 (may) have the same context. But 3 seems to be more specific and emphasizes the end of the story, isn't he?

I've modified my answer to 3, to give a more likely context.

'I was excited the most' seems to me to put more stress on the excitement itself. It seems to cry out for an agent, e.g.

'I was excited the most by the end of the story.'

Is "mostly" possible here too? (maybe "I was mostly excited") the context seems to be clear
