Putting comma between subject and verb

I encountered a following sentence in an English test.
" In one study,35% of employees described as being under heavy stress, had weak concentration and poor work performance."
Is the comma between the subjet"~stress" and the verb "had" necessary? Is it correct to put comma between subject and verb?
