Put Up Facts

Dear teachers,

May I know what the phrasal verb, put up, means in the following sentence?

An accurate representation of the facts was soon put up in its stead.

I looked it up in the dictionaries but none of it has used the phrasal verb in the way that it is used in the sentence.

Thank you very much.

It probably means something like "presented". Depending on context, it could more literally mean "put up", as in put up on a noticeboard or something.
