Put tiny effort into

Hi,

The question is like this:

Fill in the blanks.

He would never have succeeded ( ).

1. if he had put tiny effort into achieving his goals.

2. if he had not made a lot of effort to attain his goals.

*** *** ***

Both 1, and 2, possible option here?

I am sure number 2 is good, but I am not so sure about number 2.

Does it have to be "put a tiny effort"? or "put some tiny effort"?

Number 2 is correct.

Number 1 can be changed as "only a tiny effort". But, it is not so accurate.

He would not have succeeded if he had put only a tiny effort into achieving his goals.
