Put these correct?

Hi. Please tell me if it is correct to put the definite article "the" before the word "purest" and to put the phrase "that of" before the words "a raven" and after the word "as" in the following scripture. Also, do they mean the same (that is, with those two in the scripture)? Thank you in advance for your help.

In the Bible, in the New International Version, Song of Songs 5:11, it is written:

His head is purest gold; his hair is wavy and black as a raven.
