Put sthg aside & put sthg to the side

Is there a difference in meaning between "to put something aside" and "to put something to the side"?

For instance, should I say, "She's used to putting money aside" or "She's used to putting money to the side"?

Thank you.

" She's used to putting money aside " This is a common and idiomatic expression about saving money. " She's used to putting money to the side " This is not. This sounds like you mean that she ignores money.
