put something in perspective?

Hi! everyone.
I came across these phrases lately-" to put something in perspective and get something out of perspective" but couldn't understand them completely?
I know putting something in perspective mean "to realize the importance of something by considering it in relation to everything else" but in the below sentence could you tell me how a tragedy can make us realize the importance of a mere football match I mean what type of tragedy it could be(any example)? I read this sentence in a dictionary but couldn't get it-:
This kind of tragedy puts a mere football match into perspective.
And also could you tell me what "get something out of perspective mean?
I would like to offer a historical perspective.
In the above sentence what does the speaker mean by "historical perspective"?
Thanks!

silak12 This kind of tragedy puts a mere football match into perspective. In the grander scheme of things, a football match is insignificant, but a major tragedy is not. The tragedy will be recorded in history as a meaningful event in the course of human events, but the football match will be forgotten.

To put something into perspective usually implies that something is seen to be of somewhat less importance than was previously thought. In the case of the football match, it would suggest that the football match seemed very important to everyone, but some tragedy occurred that made everyone realize that the football match wasn't really so important after all.

It means to discuss something in the context of history. That is, what came before and might have caused it to happen, and what came after it, and what it might have caused. You can also discuss its relative importance compared to other events.
