put some avocados in the liquor

This is the original texts:
The main goal of the Gauntlet was to test if you had the avocados for anchorman work. Could you hold your liquor? Could you tell the difference between bespoke and off-the-rack suits?

I think it's a metaphor and I can understand the whole paragraph. Maybe it's a kind of traditional formula to make a cup of liquor in foreign country, but I don't what it is exactly. So could you tell me what does it mean?

This is the original texts: The main goal of the Gauntlet was to test if you had the avocados for anchorman work. By 'avocados', the writer means 'very large testicles'. He is asking if you are masculine enough to be an anchorman.

So avocados is a slang here, right?

Testicles are often referred to as large, rather round objects, eg watermelons, soccer *****.

But not in polite company!
