Put on/Wear

I put on a new dress today
I put on new dress today
I wear a new dress today.

Which is correct way of speaking? Am I not supposed to use "wear" but should stick with put on only?

Thanks,

In the U.S. it's probably illegal to ask, in a job interview, where someone is from or where they live.

"Where you put up?" is not idiomatic in English and would probably not be understood (at least in the U.S.).

Oh...but it is still being asked in job interviews in my place.
Anyway, what I found was this is grammatically correct but old-fashioned.
Where do you put up? = Where are you staying?

Cheers!
