Hi,

Is this phrase common in everyday speech and are the examples below correct?

"The interviewer really put me through my paces during my job interview. She didn't want to leave anything to chance."

"The teacher put me through my paces during the exam." (She asked me a lot of additional questions during an oral exam.)
