Put on water

Hi everyone,

Let's say that I'm coming back from somewhere and my brother is at home. I ask him to pour water into a pot and bring it to boil so that I can throw spaghetti in it.

Would it be natural to say:"Could you please put on water for spaghetti for me?"

I suppose it's wrong but I couldn't come up with anything better.

Thank you!

Your sentence seems one or two determiners short of fully natural. In real-life conversation, probably I would say this: Could you please put some water on to boil for me, for the spaghetti?
