Put more food into or on your lunch and dinner

(1) I will put more food into your lunch and dinner tomorrow. I know you will have a big appetite.

(2) I will put more food on your lunch and dinner tomorrow. I know you will have a big appetite.

Which preposition is correct: into or on? I think "on" sounds better to me. But, most of my non-native English speaking friends think "into" works better.

What is your opinion? Thanks a lot.
