Put in one’s twopence worth

Hi,

Is ‘put in one’s twopence worth’ still used in the UK or is in an outdated phrase?

Thank you.

It would not strike me as odd if I heard it, and it's possible I might use it myself, but I suspect it may be slowly going out of fashion. You also hear the "two cents' worth" version in the UK. As you may know, "twopence" is pronounced "tuppence" and can also be spelled that way.

  • I suppose that "twopence/tuppence worth" should strictly speaking have an apostrophe somewhere, but because of the awkwardness of it I think in practice no one bothers.
