"Put in"

Put in waves in your hair VS. Put waves in your hair. I think the first is awkward but I am not sure if native English speakers speak English that way, meaning the same. Do you think that "put in something in something" is okay to use? Thank you so much as usual and have a good day.

Anonymous Do you think that "put in something in something" is okay to use? No, I can't think of one instance in which it would be grammatical or not sound awkward. Avoid it!
