Put his anger on somebody?

For example, if A is pissed by B but instead of shouting at B, A shouts at C. Can we say that A puts his anger on C? Is there some other phrases that we can use?

Top answer

Not that, but A redirects his anger at C or (re)channels his anger to C or transfers his anger to C or (in biological terms) he displaces his anger from B to C.

I mean to say A is angry with B. Are there other ways to say that?

Thanks, Clive.

Thanks Clive.

Sometimes it is really difficult for non-native speakers like myself to see the differences among them. Then we have to know which adverb or preposition to use.

Hi,

Be patient.
Write a few sentences for us to check, if you like.

Around here, A would be ****** at B, not by. ("******" is vulgar—not in polite company, please.) We would say that A takes it out on C.

enoonWe would say that A takes it out on C.
Yes, that's a good alternative, and more in keeping with the register of the original sentence.

Thank you so much, enoon.

I was looking for this one. I have heard it before but i forgot the verb 'take'. I thought it was 'lash it out' or 'throw it out'.

You guys are always very helpful. I appreciate it.
