Put her heart out

Hi,
"He understood that she had put her heart out on the line and had it stomped on."

What does 'put one's heart out on the line' mean?
What does 'had it stomped on' mean here? Thanks.

She had allowed herself to care very much about something and let someone know that she felt that way. She allowed herself to be very emotionally vulnerable. And then, after doing so, the person either didn't return her love, or, worse, they did have a relationship but he ended it in a cruel way.

Thank you very much for your explanation.
Does 'put one's heart out' mean the same as 'pour one's heart out'?

What does 'on the line' mean here?

Thanks again.
