Put down the phone (AE or BE?)

Hello,

As an American English speaker, will you say 'She said goodbye and put down the phone.'? Does 'put down the phone' in this context sound BrE to you?

Thank you

As a Yank, I think 'put down the phone' means to lay the receiver on the table while I went to get something. " This, of course, applies to land-line phones. I'm not sure what the terminology is for mobile phones.

Hi

For me - if someone 'puts the phone down on me' it means they have ended the call. I use this for both landline and mobile phone calls.
