Pushed him to...

Are these sentences correct with the given meanings:

1) I pushed him to go into the room.
MEANING: I pushed him so that he would go into the room. (physically pushed him)

2) I put the child on that tall chair to see the screen.
MEANING: I put the child on that tall chair so that the child could see the screen.

3) I put flowers on the balcony to attract butterflies.
MEANING: I put flowers on the balcony so the flowers will attract butterflies.

4) I plant flowers to attract butterflies.
MEANING: I plant flowers so that they flowers will attract butterflies.

I think the first two do not work, but '3' and '4' do. I don't know why though.
