Push

Hi

Does "push" in the sentence below stand for "promote"

The deal that Island Records had done with Warner Brothers in America was coming to an end, so there wasn't much of a push being given to their product and it was hard to get tour support.

--- OK, I understand that the contract the Island Records signed with W.B. in America was coming to an end and the W.B. was no longer so much interested in promoting some products in America (eg. albums of the given band) and helping them with American tours. Or maybe it was I.R. that was not interested in promoting albums and helping with tours?

cheers

To me it sounds as though WB was the "pusher" in this situation, or rather, the non-pusher.

Since IR's contract was expiring, WB saw no benefit for themselves in such expenditures of either money or employees' time and energy, since any increase in popularit
