Purple prose...

Jimmy: The guy's story is beyond amazing,
it's great.
Chloe: Do you mind if I, um, add a little purple
prose
just to smooth out the rough edges?
To embellish it a little in order to be like eye candy?

Hi, Madhulk. I think your conception of it is closer to the consensus than is Chloe's. "Embellish" is definitely the word, but as an old woodworker and machinist, I think of "smoothing out the rough edges" as removing material, not adding it.
