Punctuation/Does this make sense?

Hi, I was just wondering if someone could check the punctuation of this poem, in particular the first sentence, I’m not sure if I should use a semi-colon or just a colon in this instance?

I would also be really grateful if someone could tell me if they think that this piece makes sense or not? I’d be happy to edit it if there is anything that’s unclear. The poem itself is about a woman crying in her sleep, when a ghost visits her and gives her hope. Does it make sense?

These tears belong to your ghost
and fall like rain in the night;
They are pure, though not of joy
as they fall upon my pallid skin.
My tears, to him, are shed in vain,
as he watches me in slumber,
and though my cries are noble,
he cares not for their odious tale.
For in the depths of my soul,
where I dare to dream in silence,
there are shadows of my past,
and all that I refuse to abandon.
Outside, the moon is silver
as your ghost whispers his truths:
words that shield my fragile heart
and liberate my dreams from folly.

Thanks in advance! Emotion: smile
