Punctuation preceding 'for example'

Hello, can anyone help? If you have a sentence with a 'for example' at the end, when the 'for example' part does not constitute a full sentence on its own, what punctuation mark precedes 'for example'? Which (if any) of the below is correct?:

Choose a boy's name. For example, 'Adam'.
