Punctuation matters

1. You, as a non-native English speaker, should learn English words, as many as you can if you want to be fluent in this language.

2. You, as a non-native English speaker, should learn English words, as many as you can, if you want to be fluent in this language.


From a strictly grammatical (or even better, punctuational) viewpoint, which version is correct? I'd go for #2 because #1 lacks a comma, IMHO. (But in the spoken language there is no difference, of course.)
