Punctuation in these examples.

When people say "they dont write them like this anymore!", it doesn't apply here as no one ever wrote a song like this before.

How should this be punctuated ? The comma feels at odds with the speech marks and the exclamation mark ?



Also, when using parenthesis are there any rules regarding the comma being placed next to the bracket?
