Punctuation help

Please could someone tell me if this the correct way to punctuate this sentence?

Those trousers are awful said Brenda.

''Which ones? The blue or the yellow ones?''

''The yellow ones. Not because of the colour, although they are bright, but because of the poor quality material used.''

It is a conversation between two people, but i'm not sure if the question marks, commas and full stops are in the right place? If it is wrong, please could someone explain why?

Thanks

These won't be right until you use quotation marks. Please post again, using quotation marks where you think they are needed.

Still no quotation marks. Please add them.

"Those trousers are awful " said Brenda.

"Which ones? The blue or the yellow ones?"

"The yellow ones. Not because of the colour, although they are bright, but because of the poor quality material used."

You need a comma after "awful."

Some would tell you that "poor-quality" should also have a hyphen. I'd actually rewrite as "the poor quality of the material" rather than use a hyphen there.

Grammar GeekYou need a comma after "awful."

So it should read like this...

Those trousers are awful, said Brenda

You really don't like quotation marks, do you?

"Those trousers are awful," said Brenda.
