Punctuation - comma involving dates

Do you place a common between the day of a week and the month and day in a sentence?

Example:

We will be having tests on Tuesday, April 6; Wednesday, May 4; and Friday, June 4.

Normally I would advocate using a comma, but here it seems to be getting over-fussy, and I wonder if it's not a heck of a lot easier to just say "We will be having tests on Tuesday April 6, Wednesday May 4, and Friday June 4."

Usually, I would argue for the commas, despite the fussiness, but if you send me a full box of Godiva chocolate truffles, I will vote with you.
