Punctuation: comma before /and/ in these sentences.

Dear Users,

I'm uncertain whether there should be a comma before the conjunction and in the following sentences:

- I just got up and I'll have some breakfast. (here for some reason I feel I shouldn't add a comma)
- I've been thinking a bit about what to do next, and I'll tell you about it tonight. (here I feel there should be one)
- I'll think about it and tell you. (again, feels like there ought to be no comma)

I know there's a rule behind it. As far as I know, if two sentences joined by a conjunction express similar ideas, then the comma is unnecessary.

Hope to see your comments.

Thanks

Mister MicawberNo. If the sentence is compound, a comma is required. If the sentence exhibits merely a single subject and a compound verb, there should be no comma. Occasionally, writers will omit the comma in short compound sentences to give a feeling of alacrity.
