Punctuation before closing parentheses

How does appling punctuation before {the} closing parentheses apply to the parenthetical text?

(... ,) (... Emotion: wink (... Emotion: smile

I find it confusing to put punctuation before the last parentheses.

If the punctuation does NOT apply to the parenthetical text, should it be put outside the parentheses?

Any help clearing up the confusion would be helpful.

Thanks, Tracey

1) Parentheses don't necessarily have anything to do with punctuation. 2) Not everything that's written needs punctuation. I very often see a group of words punctuated and capitalized as if they were a complete sentence when they are actually not a sentence.

Sorry it was so long getting back to the issue.

The following lines of text have colons inside and outside parenthesis (I am thinking that colons are for a (list of {some}things).

I want to understand how the repeated colons (:), including the parenthesis, are grammatically applied.

Any help clarifying this will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Tracey
